Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has been closed indefinitely. This follows students unrest over examinations opposing the move by the administration to introduce zero balance rule at the university.
MMUST students governing council president, Miss Winnie Nyandiga has said that the administration did not consult them before arriving at the decision. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Fredrick Otieno released a new schedule indicating that the university had pushed the dates for the examinations from 11th April to 18th April. The VC had also indicated in the notice that every student was expected to clear his or her outstanding fee balance before being allowed to sit for examinations.
