Why Kidero Fired Me, Sacked Minister Speaks

Former Nairobi County Executive in charge of Environment, Evans Ondieki, has finally spoken after his abrupt dismissal by Governor Evans Kidero. In a video clip, Ondieki pointed out that Kidero was uncomfortable having him around because the Governor knew that he would be vying against him come 2017. “I will be seeking that office and he knows it and that is why he is uncomfortable,” Ondieki stated. The County official accused Kidero of corruption highlighting that he had nothing to offer. Ondieki further indicated that the move was a diversion strategy by the Governor in order to blind the public from the massive corruption in his office. The County Minister was fired on Tuesday after a letter from Kidero indicated that he had ceased to be an employee of the County Government and Tom Odongo, the County Executive for Urban Renewal and Housing appointed to the position in an acting capacity. However, Governor Kidero did not give reasons behind Ondiek's sacking. Non

KRA bets on IT investments to boost tax revenue

NAIROBI : Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will be counting on the roll-out of the new Cargo Management System (ICMS) coupled with other investments in technology to boost its tax revenue collection by sealing tax loopholes. KRA Commissioner John Njiraini said that the process of replacing the outdated Simba system with ICMS will be fast-tracked to ensure it is in place before the end of the year. Initially slated for last year, ICMS implementation had been halted by a law suit which was challenging the manner in which the tendering process was carried out. However, KRA got a lifeline after the High Court dismissed the law suit in December last year. “ICT is not a choice for us but the only way through which we can deliver on our business. The new system is superior and will aid risk management, security targeting and valuation of cargo,” said Mr Njiraini yesterday during celebrations marking this year’s International Customs Day. During the function, ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Muc

Salary Negotiation Blunders

Talking about the money too early in an interview is a salary negotiation mistake The only time you get to ask about the salary is when you already have a job offer. Asking before gives an impression that you are only interested in the money and not the job. Committing too quickly The employer said an offer a bit higher than you had expected and you say ‘yes’ right away. Even if you like the offer, request for some time to think about the offer, then if allowed give your answer. Not quantifying your value During the salary negotiation the employer is looking to understand why you are asking for such an amount of money. Don’t just mention the economy and your experience as the justification. Add some quantifiable achievements such as reducing company revenue and how this could translate to their company. Lack of Confidence Imagine negotiating a salary with your head bent down and the employer cannot hear what you are saying. Will the employer take you seriously? Lack of co

The sales figure announced Wednesday compared with 2015 sales of 9.93 million vehicles for Volkswagen AG and 9.8 million for General Motors. Toyota, which makes the Prius hybrid, Camry sedan and Lexus luxury models, has forecast sales at 10.114 million vehicles in 2016. Its actual sales in 2015 beat its forecast for sales of 10.098 million vehicles. Volkswagen AG, which overtook Toyota in sales in the first half of the year, suffered in the second half from an emissions cheating scandal. Auto sales in major markets such as the U.S. and Japan have slowed, while emerging markets that had sustained growth in recent years have weakened. c.c Latimes

The Cisco 2016 Annual Security Report, which examines threat intelligence and cybersecurity trends, revealed that only 45 percent of organizations worldwide are confident in their security posture as today’s attackers launch more sophisticated, bold and resilient campaigns. While executives may be uncertain about their security strength, 92 percent of them agree that regulators and investors will expect companies to manage cybersecurity risk exposure. These leaders are increasing measures to secure their organizations’ future, particularly as they digitize their operations. The report highlights the challenges businesses face due to the rapid advancements of attackers. Hackers increasingly tap into legitimate resources to launch effective campaigns for profit-gain. Additionally, direct attacks by cybercriminals, leveraging ransomware alone, put $34 million a year per campaign into their hands. How technology will soon be taking care of your healthcare

The New Year tends to come with some changes - new socio-cultural interactions, new ways of doing business or new adjustments in our lifestyles. Some changes tend to fall on the wayside as the year advances. But other changes tend to be more long-term, serving to redefine several aspects of our lives. You can be certain that there will be changes in healthcare delivery this year. As with other service-oriented industries, technology will be a key driver of healthcare delivery. The interplay between technology and health is already quite advanced, but will get even more accelerated as the year progresses. You will already be familiar with a multitude of tech gadgets that can monitor various aspects of your health, and even offer suggestions on specific health actions. Such gadgets will get more refined, eventually becoming indispensable in individual health monitoring. You should expect to see more interactions with machines rather than humans in healthcare facilities. You wi

A Prayer for my Daughter

Once more the storm is howling, and half hid Under this cradle-hood and coverlid My child sleeps on.  There is no obstacle But Gregory’s wood and one bare hill Whereby the haystack- and roof-levelling wind, Bred on the Atlantic, can be stayed; And for an hour I have walked and prayed Because of the great gloom that is in my mind. I have walked and prayed for this young child an hour And heard the sea-wind scream upon the tower, And under the arches of the bridge, and scream In the elms above the flooded stream; Imagining in excited reverie That the future years had come, Dancing to a frenzied drum, Out of the murderous innocence of the sea. May she be granted beauty and yet not Beauty to make a stranger’s eye distraught, Or hers before a looking-glass, for such, Being made beautiful overmuch, Consider beauty a sufficient end, Lose natural kindness and maybe The heart-revealing intimacy That chooses right, and never find a friend. THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre     The falcon cannot hear the falconer;     Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;     Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,     The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere     The ceremony of innocence is drowned;     The best lack all conviction, while the worst     Are full of passionate intensity.     Surely some revelation is at hand;     Surely the Second Coming is at hand.     The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out     When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi     Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;     A shape with lion body and the head of a man,     A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,     Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it     Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.     The darkness drops again but now I know     That twenty centuries of stony sleep     Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,     And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,     Slouches towards

It is now time to devolve all pending functions

BY MACHEL WAIKENDA Last month, the High Court made a very key decision in relation to the transfer of functions to County Governments as part of devolution. The Attorney General was given 90 days to gazette the transfer of the roads function to county governments, in a ruling seen to give devolution a lifeline. High Court Judge Mumbi Ngugi said the country faces the risk of delaying devolution on grounds that the counties lack the capacity to take over devolved functions. She said if this is allowed, the transfer of functions to the counties will keep on being postponed, which will weaken and undermine devolution. The judge thus gave an order stopping the Kenya National Highways Authority from proceeding with procurement or inviting tenders, awarding contracts or concessions for the use of Class A, B and C road reserve land. KeNHA was also barred from putting up billboards or in any way interfering with the management of roads under the counties. The Senate, in a resoluti

Safe Driving Tips

1. Before beginning a long drive, always get enough sleep and eat something before you go. Highly caffeinated beverages are not necessarily the best way to stay awake while driving. While initially you will feel more alert, the effects can recede with time, and your attention may wander although you remain awake. 2. Pull over and take breaks every couple of hours, even if you don't feel sleepy. Grab a snack, get some fresh air, and stretch your legs by walking around. If you need to, take a quick nap. 3. If you can, share the driving responsibilities with someone else. This will allow you to keep an eye on each other while driving and also enable you to nap without losing time. If you're driving alone, turn on the radio or put on some music, and keep your window cracked open. You may also want to refrain from using your cruise control if you're driving alone at night -- having to concentrate on maintaining your speed can help you stay awake. 4. If you do have to

STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS BY HON RAILA ODINGA

JANUARY 5, 2016: Fellow Kenyans As we begin this year 2016, we would like to wish you all a much better and happier year. We make these wishes well aware that many problems face our nation which the current government is very unlikely to deal with. We say so because of the experience we all have had with this government since it came to power three years ago. It has been a sad, unfortunate, disappointing and painful experience. It is an experience which could have been avoided if this government had the intention of serving its people and not of stealing from them for purposes of self-enrichment and of retaining political power through corruption, fraud, theft and bribery. Before our eyes as Kenyans the Jubilee regime has brought down the House called Kenya that it inherited intact in 2013. Jubilee came into office on the back of Kenyans ‘believing’ its many promises: three years later the free laptops for primary school entrants remains a pipe dream; the stadiums in th

Reasons Why You Should Have Sex with Your Partner

The role sex plays in a marriage (and sometimes in a relationship) cannot be emphasized further. We all know that sex is the sweetest thing in the world unless you have not tasted it. We various reasons why you should have regular sex with your partner. Sex is a way of connecting to your partner emotionally and physically, it builds a bond that promotes closeness and emotional intimacy. In fact, for me, sex is the glue that holds a marriage together. Some would disagree but it's my opinion that sharing sexual pleasure enables couples to bond more deeply as friends, and it is that friendship that w ill sustain a marriage as we grow old.  A marriage without sexual intimacy and friendship will sputter and die. But what happens when your partner starts to get stingy with his/her affection? That person who was always eager to massage you, caress you, stroke your dick, lick your pussy now shows no signs of wanting to fuck you! He/she is withholding sex, you desire to make love to him/

GHAFLA EXPLORES: 10 Jobs In Kenya That Have Wife Material Women

If you are looking for a wife, what career fields should you hunt in? Here are the best ones Primary school teacher I repeat......primary school teacher. Not secondary. Primary school teachers love children. They take good care of them. They are not the type to go clubbing and leave their children watching explicit soap operas with the horny mboch. Secondary school teachers are too stressed out from dealing with adolescent teenagers so they wont properly service your manly needs at home. Primary school teachers on the other hand are feminine, nurturing, selfless and most importantly blessedly cheap to maintain. Primo teachers don’t make much mulla so your financial status will always be above hers, guaranteeing a long and healthy relationship. Stripper The success of s marriage comes down to two important things – sex and money. Unhappiness always fills in where one of those lacks. Strippers are champions of earth shattering sex. They pin you down and make you cum to yo
