DR EVANS KIDERO STATEMENT REGARDING THE FLOODS AND HEAVY DOWN POUR IN THE CITY OF NAIROBI

First and foremost my sincere condolences for the loss of lives and destruction of property that occurred in our beloved City as a consequence of the worst floods this year. I am deeply saddened by the scenes, pictures and videos of the aftermath of yesterday's heavy rains. My prayers and thoughts are with all those who have been affected in one way or the other. Even the statehouse area was a victim of flash floods The steady rain that has been pounding the City for the last 3 days reached an all time high of 80mm against an expected normal rainfall of 12mm. The City is likely to continue receiving more than average rainfall. The City will be subjected to increased incidents of flooding on the roads, destruction of properties, public open spaces and flooding of rivers which result in traffic congestion, inconvenience to residents and sometimes injuries and fatalities. The Nairobi City County Government will continue to mobilize resources to attenuate and mitigate the sev

President Uhuru Kenyatta sets ablaze world's biggest Ivory Pile #WorthMoreAlive #IvoryBurn

Kenya has burned more than Sh31 billion worth of ivory in a bold sign of commitment to declaring a war on ivory trade and poaching. President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday lit fire on the 105 tonnes of ivory, stack up in 11 huge pyramid-shaped pyres, that is expected to burn for at least three days. Speaking at the burning ceremony, President Kenyatta said Kenya will not tolerate ivory trade even as the country has to grapple with “a new generation of poachers with sophisticated weapons who are threatening national heritage and safety of communities.” By destroying the ivory, we declare once and for all that our National Heritage is not for sale. For us ivory is worthless, unless it is on our elephants said the president Check the pictures below:>>>>>

NJOKI CHEGE ~ MR PRESIDENT,PLEASE DON’T WASTE SH1BN ON MIRAA

By NJOKI CHEGE Dear Mr President, Hello. It’s me. The City Girl. This is a bit awkward. It is my first time, you know. I have never written to a President before. Forgive me if I am a little shy. I try to avoid commenting on matters politics and economics mostly because such topics are beyond my scope of comprehension. On a normal day, you will find me insulting bloggers, shisha boys and occasionally, tackling the elephants in the room (also known as “plus-size”). But today, Mr President, I had to write to you. You see, Mr President, you have been on my mind a lot lately. Before I say what brought me here, allow me to clear a few things first. I know big men have been felled for writing mean letters to you. I want you to know that I am not one of the bold types that use unkind words like “Get your act together” while addressing you. Me, I am just a mere City Girl with a column to write and heels to buy so promise not to report me to my boss after reading this? Now that w

LADIES HEAR ME OUT !!!!

Never depend on your boyfriend like he is your father.Show him that before he met you, you were comfortable and without him you can still be comfortable. Do not detest a man because he is not rich.Rather remember that, he who is rich today may not be rich tomorrow and he who is poor may not be poor forever. Richness is like a table fan, it Rotates. Web designer who started from home

Oracom Web Solutions Ltd owner Alphonce Juma (right) and his corporate client relations manager Maurice Ogola. PHOTO | CORRESPONDENT|2015 As the world turns into a global village, the need for companies to have online presence continues to grow. It is this thirst by firms that a technology start-up Oracom Web Solutions Limited seeks to quench. As a fresh graduate of information sciences from Moi University, Mr Juma was employed for a year before he quit job in 2010 to set up his business of website design and development from his rental house in Kayole. His seed capital? Sh2,000, he said. A few months later, he moved his office to Nairobi’s River Road where within a year, he got deals from 10 companies but there was a problem. He needed a better office location so that he can build confidence in his growing customer base. This saw him move to a servant quarter in Kileleshwa. But it was not until 2013 when he came up with a web-portal — myAspirant, myLeader — a plan that

MEN - MY CHILDHOOD; MY MANHOOD; MY PROSTATE.. MUST READ!!

Ladies and Gentlemen I am here to share with you this vital information on Prostate. The topic is misleading. Is prostate strictly for men? Yes, ONLY men have prostate and ONLY men over 40 years but the healthcare enlightenment is for everyone. There is no woman who does not know a man 40 years and above – father, uncle, brother, son, fri end, neighbor, colleague … Essentially what I will be doing today is health promotion. Responsible health promotion must provide three things: 1. Information 2. Reassurance 3. A plan of action. Let me start with a background on prostate health. Everyone has a pair of kidneys. The job of the kidney is to remove waste. It is the LAWMA (waste management company) of your body. Everyday your blood passes through the kidney several times to be filtered. As the blood is filtered, urine is formed and stored in a temporary storage tank called the urinary bladder. If there were to be no urinary bladder, as a man walks on the road, urine will be dropping.

Types of Hackers You Should Know

Hackers are varied creatures and include these 7 types:   Script Kiddie   – Script Kiddies normally don’t care about hacking (if they did, they’d be Green Hats. See below.). They copy code and use it for a virus or an SQLi or something else. Script Kiddies will never hack for themselves; they’ll just download overused software (LOIC or Metasploit, for example) and watch a YouTube video on how to use it. A common Script Kiddie attack is DoSing or DDoSing (Denial of Service and Distributed Denial of Service), in which they flood an IP with so much information it collapses under the strain. This attack is frequently used by the “hacker” group   Anonymous , which doesn’t help anyone’s reputation. White Hat   – Also known as ethical hackers, White Hat hackers are the good guys of the hacker world. They’ll help you remove a virus or PenTest a company. Most White Hat hackers hold a college degree in IT security or computer science and must be certified to pursue a career in hacking. T

Leicester eight points clear after 4-0 demolition of Swansea

Ulloa Claudio Ranieri's side were without their top scorer Jamie Vardy after his dismissal in last week's draw with West Ham United, but Riyad Mahrez' s early opener, a brace from Ulloa either side of half-time and a late Marc Albrighton strike ensured they got back to winning ways and piled the pressure on Tottenham Hotspur once more. Mahrez is hot favourite to be named PFA Player of the Year later on Sunday, and it was the Algerian's 17th BPL goal of the season that set Leicester on their way, as he capitalised on an error from Ashley Williams to open the scoring after 10 minutes. Ulloa - who was forced off late on with a knock to the back - then powered Danny Drinkwater's free-kick past the helpless Lukasz Fabianski on the half-hour mark, and the Argentinian's second 15 minutes after the restart sent the King Power Stadium into raptures before substitute Albrighton rifled in a fourth late on. Victory puts Leicester eight points clear of se

NJOKI CHEGE (CITY GIRL):GUYS, NO AFRICAN MAN WORTH HIS SALT SMOKES SHISHA

By NJOKI CHEGE I had promised myself that I will never write about shisha, ever again. The topic itself is as disgusting as the people who smoke it and, frankly, I hate to write about losers. I like to keep off the unhappy and unsuccessful, lest their bad luck rubs off on me. Just when I thought I had hit the final nail in this shisha coffin (pun definitely intended), just when I thought I will never have to deal with the shisha girls, their stinky weaves and their over powdered pimply faces, while out on last Saturday night, I met the men who smoke shisha. I blamed the gods for allowing me to see men smoking shisha. I questioned God, wondering why he had let me see the most disgusting thing I will never unsee. The memory of a man smoking shisha, dear Lord, is forever imprinted in my world-class brain. Lord, why me? DISGUSTING Men who smoke shisha have no shame at all. I am confused, dear readers. Help me decide. What is more disgusting? An African man stuffing that filth

Corpse "crashes" hearse into a tree in Nyamira!!!

A mourning family in Nyamira was thrown into panic after a hearse ferrying the body their kin was involved in an accident. It is alleged the departed was protesting against his body being viewed at his father’s ancestral home. Speaking to  The Nairobian , Charles Aumbi, a close relative, said Stephen Okindo, the deceased, was a teacher at Mosocho in Kisii County and rarely visited home. Aumbi revealed that on the burial day, they started the journey well, but upon reaching Kiemuma village in North Mugirango Constituency, the hearse veered off the road and crashed into an electricity post. The coffin was thrown out of the car. “We were all in shock. We couldn’t explain what exactly was happening. The body lay on the roadside for close to an hour when the driver scattered from the scene,” he said. The mourners reassembled the coffin, tightly fastened it with ropes after collecting the body which suffered dents. Three members of the bereaved family sustained injuries and w

How rhesus factor affects your unborn child

By Dr Ombeva Malande Dear Dr Ombeva, I am a B- and my husband is B+ blood group. Do you think I will be able to give birth to a normal healthy baby? I am worried because a friend who is O- gave birth and the baby died, and the doctor told her it is because the husband is B+. What can I do to avoid the same fate? Anxious Dear Anxious, We each have a blood group, either A, B, AB or O; that is either positive or negative, depending on whether they have inherited an Rh (Rhesus) factor; where people with a Rh factor are Rh positive while those without are Rh negative. The Rh factor can cause problems if you (woman) are Rh negative and your foetus is Rh positive - called Rh incompatibility. These problems usually do not occur in a first pregnancy, but they can occur in a later pregnancy. When an Rh-negative mother’s blood comes into contact with blood from her Rh-positive foetus, it causes the Rh-negative mother to make antibodies against the Rh factor. These antibodies at
