City MCAs are like babies — Ole Magelo

Nairobi City County Assembly Speaker has asked county MCAs to concentrate on work and avoid crying like babies.
Speaker Magelo who went on to ask Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro to rescue his House from domineering county chiefs, asked MCAs to concentrate on development issues.
“It is important for the Senate to look for its babies so they don’t fall. Devolution starts with county assemblies,” Magelo implored Ethuro on March 9.
Magelo who accused the governors of side-lining the MCAs, also blamed the Controller of Budget, Commission of Revenue Allocation, Salaries and Remuneration Commission and Kenya Revenue Authority of frustrating county representatives.
“They have limited assembly operations budget at seven per cent of the county budget. We don’t get house allowances and the official car and home offered to me are taxed from my earnings, yet the governor is spared from taxation. This is wrong,” said Magelo.
Speaker Ethuro promised to engage senators to help sort the problem and open avenues for MCAs to pour out their frustrations. “We will gather evidence and see the way forward,” said Ethuro.
